Louisville has been selected as the 101st CreativeMornings city in the world. Starting in January 2015, CreativeMornings Louisville will be hosting breakfast and a short talk from a featured speaker one Friday morning a month led by a local volunteer organizer and their team. Every event will be free of charge and open to anyone.
In 2008, Tina Roth Eisenberg started CreativeMornings out of a desire for an ongoing, accessible event for New York’s creative community. The concept was simple: a free breakfast and a short talk one Friday morning a month. Today, attendees gather monthly in over 100 cities to enjoy fresh coffee, friendly people, and an international array of breakfast foods. Volunteer teams organize local chapters to not only celebrate a city’s creative talent but also promote an open space to connect with like-minded people.
Back in September, Ben Terry, Creative Director at Access Ventures, started meeting with leaders in the city about CreativeMornings and the potential impact of bringing it to Louisville. According to Terry, "Louisville is full of creative talent and CreativeMornings is a way for us to inspire, foster, and challenge our creative community towards better things." After much interest from key stakeholders, Kertis Creative and others helped Terry create an application video (https://vimeo.com/107518176) highlighting why Louisville should be the next CreativeMornings city. In December, Louisville was officially approved and announced as the newest addition to the CreativeMornings family.
What CreativeMornings offers is an opportunity to bring together our local creative and entrepreneur community, connect what’s going on in our city with the national creative world, and provide a welcoming environment that's executed with excellence. According to Terry, "We welcome a variety of people with different creative disciplines to gather and celebrate the creative work being done in our community. We believe in Louisville and so we're doing everything we can to see the creative community flourish."
CreativeMornings will feature some of Louisville's best food, coffee, speakers and venues starting in January 2015. Registration for CreativeMornings will open on Monday at 11am announcing the speaker and the location before the event on the following Friday. There will also be a global theme for each event that serves as a common thread to connect all of the CreativeMorning cities. More importantly, CreativeMornings is made possible by volunteers and local sponsors. Terry serves as the host and lead volunteer with the help of Stephen Kertis of Kertis Creative, Todd Balsley of Forest Giant, Hannah Beasley of Red E App, and many others.
